The Substance Misuse Support Network Newmarket is pleased to announce a vital Drugs & Alcohol Awareness Talk on Monday 14th July 2025 at 6.30pm at The Racing Centre, Newmarket. The event is open to all racing staff, with a particular focus on engaging Head Persons, Secretaries, and Stable Staff - key individuals who often act as first points of contact when welfare concerns arise within the yard.
Delivered in partnership with Health Outreach NHS, the session will include a presentation and Q&A with Renato Masetti, Training Co-ordinator for Drugs and Alcohol at Health Outreach NHS. Attendees will learn how to identify the early signs of drug and alcohol misuse among friends and colleagues, how to approach potentially difficult conversations, and where to signpost those in need of professional support.
The Substance Misuse Support Network Newmarket brings together a group of racing industry organisations who work collectively to provide practical, confidential support for Newmarket’s racing community. Recognising the unique pressures that can affect racing staff, the Network’s objective is to ensure that help is accessible, and that early intervention is encouraged throughout the industry.
